A major difficulty when working with drains is the inability to see them once they have been covered. In addition grounds people tend to forget that they are not visible after installation and often place changes of direction in unexpected locations, such as just upstream or downstream of an inspection chamber or manhole. Furthermore it is not unusual for lateral runs to join the main run blind (without any access at the junction node).
These factors can often make it very difficult for drain tracing and locating the position and run of a drain system even when there are some old drawings, plans (that weren’t used by the ground crew) or some other form of inaccurate or incomplete information.
Without prior experience it can be very difficult to locate and identify where the drains run under the ground, especially on sites where the system has been changed and added to over time. In these situations we can trace and map these runs for you.
To assist us in tracing these runs we use CCTV Drain Cameras with specialised drain location equipment to positively trace, identify and map the runs of the drains. After tracing the drain runs they are mapped and drawn up on CAD, or simply marked out on the ground dependent upon your requirements.
