Occasionally we find that we are called out to assist in the removal of a drain rod, usually after they have snapped or twisted apart. The drain rods available from the DIY stores are not as strong as the rods used by most professional drainage contractors allowing the rods to be broken and leaving drain rods stuck in the drain pipe.
In these situations we usually clear the drain blockage, which then allows us to use the CCTV drain camera to find the rods at which point we use special tools to wrap round the rod to withdraw it.
The other advantage of using professional drain rods is that they are designed to not unscrew themselves whilst in the drain, unlike standard DIY drain rods which are not self locking. This also leads to rods seperating and drain rods being left in the drain pipe.
There is an additional charge for rod removal if they are not cleared out of the drain when we high pressure jet to clear the blockage, this is because we manage to remove the rods faster than most others, who will charge you by the hour for their slow service.
